India Tourism Sector update in month of September and October 2014


#ForeignTouristsArrivals to #India during the period October 2014 were 6.56 lakh with a growth of 9.6%, as compared to the FTAs of 5.98 lakh during corresponding period last year.
#ForeignExchangeEarnings From Tourism during October 2014, stood at 9847 Crore or $1.604 Billion with a growth of 13.9% as compared to corresponding period last year.

India’s Tourism : Tourist Arrivals via Visa on Arrival Scheme (VoAs). . .

Visa on Arrivals issued during financial year 2013-2014 were 20,391 compared to 17,923 during financial year 2012-13 registering 13.77% growth year on year.
Latest VoAs issued Under “Visa on Arrival” were 1,958 during March 2014, as compared to 2,107 VoAs during March 2013, registering a decline of 7.1%.
Total 5,841 VoAs were issued during January-March 2014 as compared to 5,744 VoA during corresponding period of 2013 registering a growth of 1.7%.
Visitors to India must obtain a visa from one of the Indian diplomatic missions unless they come from one of the visa-exempt countries or countries whose citizens may obtain a visa on arrival.
Citizens of the following countries are granted visa on arrival for a single stay up to 30 days in India when travelling as tourist or visiting family or friends:
Burma, Cambodia, Finland, Indonesia, Japan, Laos, Luxembourg, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, Republic of Korea, Vietnam.
This is applicable at the following airports: Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Cochin, Kolkata, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Thiruvananthapuram. Visa on arrival allows only a single entry and is issued maximum of two times in a calendar year, with a minimum gap of 60 days between each visit.
